Long Island Temperatures Nearing 90
Sea Breeze Relief At The Beaches
Long Island is heating up this afternoon as the ocean air conditioner is cut off for the time being. So except for local sea breezes at the beaches, temperatures north of Sunrise Highway are taking off and as of 1pm, many areas have already reached the middle 80s.

Areas south of Sunrise Highway are in the 70s to near 80. An average spring day could easly see temperatures 10 or degrees lower than this but with the prevailing west wind, the sea breeze will remain contained until perhaps very late this afternoon. Radars a clear as is the sky with lots of sunshine. No rain is forecast into or probably through Thursday.
A warm night is ahead of us with most lows in the low to mid 60s with a few 50s in cool spots. Then another warm day is coming Thursday though the wind will be more southwest which will mean highs a good 5 degrees lower and in some cases 10 degrees lower. Still we should reach lower 80s in most places Thursday except at the shore.
We are growing more optimistic for the weekend as the latest run of weather models have backed off from an onshore flow developing Sunday and Monday. We will have more on this later today. Meanwhile the tropics are heating up and here is the latest from the NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER.
