Winds Off The Ocean
Minimal Threat For Showers
Today was the warmest day of the spring for Long Island. Up until today everytime it tried to warm up here we had to deal with some sort of a wind off the ocean issue which kept temperatures much lower than in places nearby. Well today we hit highs in the mid to upper 80s with lots of sunshine and a minimal sea breeze confined to areas south of Sunrise Highway. So now we head into the night with clear skies and temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s by morning. Radar loops this evening are relatively quiet as any showers moving southeast in Western New England are falling apart as they head to the coast.

Now for the next 3 days winds will be more from the southwest which will start to shave off a few degrees from the highs each afternoon. Thursday should be mostly sunny with highs in the low to middle 80s with 70s shore and east.

Friday will knock off a few more with highs in the mid 70s to near 80. Friday we will have more of a mix of sun and clouds with the chance of a late shower or thunderstorm. The same holds for Saturday and probably Sunday and Monday. The onshore flow fear has abated for the most part. The trick will be figuring out how much cloud cover will be around and whether there will be a late day shower or thunderstorm Sunday or Monday. I think Monday has the better chance for late day thunderstorms. So at the moment the optimism level for the holiday weekend continues to slowly rise.
