Long Island Ocean Flow Continues Monday Showers Tuesday
Dry Chilly Second Half Of Next Week
Long Island enjoyed a very nice day considering we had an ocean wind and a few high clouds around. The wind held the temperatures down somewhat and we will see the same situation on Monday. The satellite view shows skies over Long Island are generally clear. There were some showers earlier today in Northwestern New England that moved southeast but they have mostly fallen apart as the regional radar and local radar loop below show us. Tonight expect nothing more than a few clouds with temperatures mostly in the 40s
SATELLITE
WEATHER RADAR
Monday should be no worse than partly sunny The onshore flow will bend the wind to the southeast and that will keep it cool again. Highs will only be in the mid to upper 50s with the exception of the East End and south and east facing shorelines which will likely be mostly in the lower 50s. The onshore flow is around the backside of a high off the coast of New England. Those winds will bend more to the south and south southwest on Monday ahead of a cold front.
Tuesday brings a cold front with a few showers scattered around when the front passes. Highs will be into the 60s. The front will slow down Tuesday night and a wave develops on the front so we are looking for a period fo rain Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. That wave will continue to develop as it makes its way to Nova Scotial. It is going to get stuck in a blocking pattern leaving us in a chilly flow of air Wednesday right into next weekend. For the most part it looks dry with a mix of sun and clouds Wednesday and Thursday and maybe more sunshine and fewer clouds Friday. Highs each day will be in the upper 50s to some lower 60s and nighttime lows will be in the 30s to lower 40s. This time of year we should be up in the mid 60s for highs each day and those numbers continue to climb as each day passes so it will remain below normal. Sustained warm ups remain elusive and this chilly pattern is forecast to last well into the long range as we move into the month of May.
