Long Island Rain Ending But Clouds Remain
The last of the Long Island Rain is about to exit to the east as the first of 3 weather systems moves through. Rainfall today was on the order of a quarter to a half inch so far and we could have a few more tenths on top of this before the last drops fall. Then to the north and west there is a little bit of dry air that will try and get in here late tonight or early on Tuesday but there are issues.
You can see clouds on the satellite loop over the Central Gulf States as the next low jets ejected to the northeast. The issue will be how far north and west will the rain get. We think that there is a chance some of that rain will graze Long Island Tuesday night but even if it does I think the rain will be light. Much of Tuesday will feature cloud cover with just a few limited breaks of sun. Temperatures should climb well into the 60s if the sun can come out for an hour or two.
Wednesday may be the one day this work week where we could see clouds and some sun with no rain (assuming the wave Tuesday night stays offshore). Then the next low approaches for Thursday.

The rain from this system should be out Thursday night but there could be some leftover showers running around on Friday. Then we head to the holiday weekend. No changes in my view on this right now. I think Saturday is the best of the three days at this point. Sunday we could see clouds and rain still in the picture for Monday Memorial Day.
