Rain Moving Out Late During Evening
Long Island missed out on the area of rain that moved to the west this morning so other than a few passing showers that was it. The next area of rain is coming for later this afternoon and evening. It looks to last only a couple of hours. These disturbances in the flow remain rather weak so at least the rainfall has not been excessive. In the mean time the gloom of low clouds drizzle and patchy fog continues in between
I switched the radar from NYC to Fort Dix because the NYC radar remains down at the moment so at least you have something to see. Actually this radar shot will give you a better idea of what is coming. The HRRR model has rain moving into West Nassau County between 3 & 4pm and into Suffolk County between 4 & 5pm. Then it ends from west to east between 5pm and 9pm.

Temperatures today are going nowhere with highs just in the 50s and overnight temperatures will be in the 40s to around 50. More of the same Thursday and Friday with highs in the 50s. Friday with low pressure offshore we could see rain coming in from the east and the NAM model does show a band of heavy rain later Friday afternoon and evening.
