Severe Drought Continues

It has been months since Long Island saw an island wide rainfall but we finally got one today and it was substantial. Rainfall amounts especially in Suffolk County were in the 1.00-2.50 inch range while a little less fell in Nassau. Now we could use 6 more of these kinds of rain events but at least this one played out. No rain is in the forecast for the next 7 days.
Now we see the last of the rain sliding to the east this evening. There will be a lot of leftover clouds around into Tuesday morning along with some patchy dense fog that could develop in some areas.
Tuesday look for skies to go partly sunny and it will be a warm and humid day with highs in the low to mid 80s. A weak push of dry air comes down from the north so Wednesday and Thursday look to be nice with sunshine and comfortable humidity. Highs both days will be in the lower 80s.
The next big change comes Saturday as a cold front drops from the north. Behind it will be a shot of genuine cool air for later Saturday into early next week which will be a real nice taste of Autumn. An even stronger push of cooler air will be coming later next week. No rain however is in the forecast through the next 7 days and no threats from the tropics.
