Long Island Record High Temperatures This Week
Watching Tropics For Possible Rain Late Week
We are seeing a beautiful Sunday of weather which is perfect for anything Autumn be it the Oyster Bay Oyster Fest or a trip to a North Fork Winery. Lots of sunshine will be with us all day with nothing more than a few passing clouds. Temperatures should find their way close to the 70 degree mark. Radars are nice and quiet and will remain that way into tonight.
Late tonight as a weak weather front approaches and basically falls apart on top of us, there could be a few passing showers that will amount to nothing in terms of rainfall. Lows tonight will be in the 50s to near 60. Monday we are looking at clouds and some sunshine as highs reach the mid to upper 70s. The bar is low for record highs at Islip as temperatures in the mid to upper 70s would challenge records.
RECORD HIGHS MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
Tuesday and Wednesday we will see highs reaching the 80 degree mark or higher in many locations. Then late this week attention will shift to the tropics as weather models are pointing to some sort of development in the Bahamas, either a tropical depression or a tropical/subtropical storm. This could be very important as our rainfall deficit is running 10 to 15 inches across Long Island. The severe drought deepens and this could be an opportunity to make a serious dent into that deficit number. However as always weather models show a high degree of uncertainty at this point. We will have more on this possibility later today.
