Long Island Sees Low Humidity Sunshine Next Few Days
After the heavy rains and flash flooding of earlier today we are waiting for the front that is offshore to move a little further to the east in order to get into the dry air that lies to the northwest. We have been sitting in clouds all day and there have been occasional light showers. The satellite picture shows the cloud line about 100 or so miles to the northwest. It will be a matter of one last wave on this front to move by offshore which it will do tonight. There is an area of mostly light rain with this and we will be brushed by as the wave goes by.
SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Regional and local radars show the rain to the south and east moving northeastward. Heavier downpours and thunderstorms have shifted south into Virginia and North Carolina. We won’t see any impact from the heavier rain. Look for a few passing showers this evening and tonight and they will be on the light side. Temperatures will settle in the 60s. Late tonight the front will be far enough to the east to allow the drier air to the northwest to move in and start clearing out the skies.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Wednesday look for some early clouds but they should quickly give way to sunshine. Humidity will be low and temperatures will be in the 70s to near 80 in the warm spots. There are no weather issues going forward so we have no rain worries through the weekend. Thursday looks good with sunshine and highs reaching into the lower 80s. Friday we will see sunshine warmer and more humid conditions as highs reach into the middle 80s.
It will be very warm and more humid this weekend with sunshine but the set up is a bit different from last weekend. The high initially goes to our northeast which keeps the hotter air to our west and northwest. A bit of an onshore flow will keep temperatures under 90 this weekend and near 90 in the warm spots on Sunday. No showers or thunderstorms are forecast through the weekend. The next cold from of significance may not come until the middle of next week so it looks like we will go awhile before we have any significant shower or thunderstorm threat.
