Long Island Spring Misery Continues
Nothing spells misery better than Long Island Spring misery! We had yet another day socked in with low clouds, hardly any brightening of skies, and temperatures that did not get out of the 50s. Ever since the heat wave we have seen nothing but below average temperatures. In fact if you take out those 3 very warm days and the month would finish over 3 degrees below average! That is a fairly sizeable departure from normal. There are some light showers on the radar offshore as of 6pm and there will be some isolated showers possible overnight as a cold front begins its approach from the west. Otherwise it is another night of clouds and temperatures in the 50s.
All that said there is hope for Wednesday that we will break out of the marine layer somewhat. Even though we will start the morning Wednesday with clouds some breaks of sun should develop which will take temperatures into the 70s. Then a cold front will move through tomorrow evening and there is the chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms though that will depend on whether the marine layer completely gets out of the way. If that happens the atmosphere will become more unstable and favorable for thunderstorm development.
Thursday and Friday look like 2 nice days overall with some sunshine each day and highs in the 70s especially away from the ocean.
