Memorial Day Eastern Long Island Getting Soaked This Morning
Heavy rain is falling over much of Suffolk County this morning as low pressure develops to our south. This is going to keep the East End of Long Island in rain all morning from Riverhead east. West of Riverhead to the Nassau line the rain will gradually wind down over the next few hours, while west of the Suffolk Nassau line some showers are possible into midday as another batch swings in from the west. All of this is making for a not so nice Memorial Day. Weather conditions should slowly improve from west to east during the afternoon but we will be in clouds all day and temperatures will barely make it back into the 60s.
Tuesday will bring another round of low clouds with an ocean wind and the chance for showers or a thunderstorm with highs just in the 60s. We may finally see a fair amount of sunshine on Wednesday with a chance for a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the 70s. It is not a good start to the week or for the last day of the holiday weekend. Hopefully you can find some dry time this afternoon.
