Long Island Warm Autumn Weekend
We seem to be fighting something on Long Island with regards to temperatures. Either it’s the sea breeze off the cold ocean or the low clouds that stubbornly hang on all day. Today we seemed to have been freed of both these things as temperatures climbed up over 80 in areas away from the ocean. Clouds are coming in from the west now as a cold front has stalled out to our south. Some showers back in Western Pennsylvania will probably move over Long Island during the early morning hours assuming they hold together.
Friday and through the weekend will be on the warm side with temperatures in the 70s by day and 60s by night. Clouds from time to time will be an issue but there will be some breaks of sunshine. Also low clouds and fog will probably develop during the nighttime and early morning hours Saturday and Sunday. However overall the weekend should be fine for any outdoor activity.
The next chance for rain will come on Monday as the remnants of Nate will be moving toward us. How much rain will depend on Nate’s track and the track of the remnant low as it moves northeast. All the tracks above shown by the hurricane models could produce a much needed 1 to 2 inches of rain but this will hinge on whether the remnant low of Nate can get energized by energy in the jet stream which will be getting involved.
