It feels like a night in October or March instead of mid May. Temperatures today on Long Island didn’t get out of the 50s and the winds were strong and gusty from the northwest all day. Oak pollen is all over the place which made for a very uncomfortable day for pollen sufferers. Temperatures this evening are dropping and heading for the upper 30s and lower 40s.

The satellite loop still shows clouds rotating around low pressure in Eastern Canada. Between the clouds and the wind that should hold the temperatures above levels that would cause damage to plants.
Radars are still showing scattered showers around but they should diminish as we move through the night. Amazing that in mid May there was snow and graupel in places upstate and west and not that far away!
Monday should be a nice day with sunshine and temperatures should respond even though we will still be in a chilly air mass. The May sun should be able to take temperatures back up into the lower 60s.

Tuesday we will see clouds and we will be close to an area of rain that will be coming up from the south. There is still some question as to how far north the rain will get. Here is the latest post addressing this issue and the weather for the rest of the week.
