Coastal Low Friday Means Coastal Flooding?
You can see the effects of the deep upper air trough in the eastern United States. Clouds are everywhere and with the flow off the ocean remaining pretty much unbroken over the next several days we will be dealing with occasional waves of rain and when its not raining, we will be in the soup of drizzle and fog. UGH!
The overnight and morning rains have moved off shore and while the radar doesn’t show it, there is light rain and drizzle going on and there are also some showers to the west and south. Every so often one of those showers will move through from now into Wednesday morning.

Later Wednesday weather models are indicating another wave of low pressure developing off the coast and moving northeast which threatens us with another wave of steady rain later Wednesday afternoon and Wednsday night.

NAM MODEL WEDNESDAY LATE AFTERNOON
The rainfall from each wave has not been excessive. Most rainfall totals were in the half to three quarters of an inch range which was beneficial. Through Thursday morning models are forecasting another quarter of an inch or so.

GFS MODEL FRIDAY MORNING
Friday brings a new moon and we will have been under a northeast flow for days. Low pressure will develop to the south and it will create a stronger northeast to east flow which increases the chances for some coastal flooding issues. Friday we will see the highest tides of the spring. We will continue to monitor the situation regarding the possibility of coastal flooding. What keeps this from being a serious coastal flooding issue is the lack of a strong high to the north. What could make it more of an issue is if that low off the Delaware coast winds up being stronger than forecast.
