Long Island Weather Warm Tuesday
Tuesday’s record high for Long Island is 62 which was set just last year. I think that getting to that number is a bit of a long shot but it could certainly reach mid to upper 50s or maybe near 60 before the front passes and colder air comes in later in the day Tuesday and Tuesday evening.
We will have the threat for showers before the front passes through Tuesday morning but we should see some sunshine develop in the afternoon as the front passes offshore. Radars show showers to the west however weather models were tending to weaken those showers as they moved east overnight. Also the dense fog that has developed in some areas overnight will lift as we move through the morning hours.
Skies will clear out Tuesday night and Wednesday should be a sunny but colder day with highs in the middle 40s which would still be about 5 degrees above average. Thursday the forecast is complicated with an approaching front and a wave that is forecast to develop on that front. That wave will intensify as it moves offshore and it will bring some rain here. There will be some cold air coming in and there is a chance (though a small one at this stage) of that rain changing over to snow before it ends in some areas.
