Long Island Weekend Downpours
[brid video=”56647″ player=”6390″ title=”Heavy Rains Tropical Weather”]
Friday morning’s rainfall was the first island wide rainfall we have seen here in many weeks. The totals were below model forecast but most amounts were in the 1 to 2 inch range which is at least a nice dent in the overall rainfall deficit. That stands at 6 to 8 inches for the year before Friday and now stands at about 5 to 7 inches.

Saturday starts off with sunshine but we can already see the next upper air disturbance coming out of the Ohio Valley. This should start generating some downpours as early as late Saturday afternoon and we think it continues on and off through Sunday and possibly even Monday.
Temperatures this weekend are going to depend on clouds and rain. I’m thinking Saturday we should get into the 80s but Sunday might be tough to get out of the 70s if we are in clouds all day. Through Monday the rainfall totals are around 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch but I wonder if this could be underdone. All will depend on how the radars set up.
Long Island Weekend Downpours Rainfall Forecast Through Monday
Weather models are more bullish with rainfall particularly the NAM 4KM model however we should point out that it was awful with Friday’s rainfall. Amounts came in half as forecast. Using the same error rainfalls could be in the 1 to 2 inch range again with locally higher amounts rather than the 2 to 4 inches being indicated.
