Long Island Weekend Should Be Quiet A Little Rain Sunday Night
More Rain Monday Night
We have arrived at the weekend after a nice Friday of sunshine and highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Now we take the next step down in temperatures as another cold front falls apart as it moves through this evening. There will be clouds around tonight as the satellite shows cloud cover to the west and north. Temperatures overnight will bottom in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Radars are quiet this evening and they should remain so overnight.

Saturday will be cooler than today. An upper trough will be moving through and that will put us in a changeable sky situation with clouds and some breaks of sun. There is the outside chance of a very brief shower or sprinkle in the afternoon. Highs will be in the lower 60s in most places. Then the trough moves offshore and we will partially clear out Saturday night. Sunday looks okay with sunshine to start and then some high clouds will start moving in from the west as a warm front sets up nearby. We do not think we will see any rain during the dayside Sunday. Highs will again be mostly in the lower 60s.
Sunday night we could see a period of rain between midnight and 8am Monday. This won’t produce much in the way of rainfall but it starts what will likely be a rather dreary week. The rain moves out leaving us in clouds for the rest of the day. Monday highs will be in the upper 60s. Then the first of two storm systems will arrive with rain Monday night into Tuesday morning. Some of the rain could be on the heavy side as low pressure moves out of the Ohio Valley and heads right for Long Island. While the main surge of rain will last into Tuesday morning and then taper off it will leave us in lots of clouds. The low will be slow to move out to the east thanks to the blocky pattern we are in. Temperatures Tuesday will probably be mostly in the 50s.Wednesday looks dry but cloudy as we set up for another storm system for the end of the week which could bring another round of rain that could be heavy at times.
