Long Island Weekend Weather Dry Colder
After 2 days of much needed rain, we finished up with 3 inches on average island wide. The deficit at Islip still remains at about 10 inches but some areas in Nassau County have seen their deficits cut down to under 7 inches so we have been making some progress. We still have another 7 inches ago and it would take several more big rain events to pull things even. We can say that there will be no rain to speak of through Sunday evening as dry air and colder air gradually moves in over the next 3 days. We are beginning to see clouds thining out on the satellite loop but there will be occasional clouds around through Friday.
LONG ISLAND WEEKEND WEATHER SATELLITE AND RADAR LOOPS
Radars will be quiet through Sunday evening. Then a weak disturbance will approach late Sunday night into Monday morning. If it holds together there could be a little light rain or a little light mix during the early morning hours on Monday. Afterwards we wait for another low coming out of the Gulf States and that could mean another round of rain on Tuesday.
Weather models are not overly bullish on rain amounts with this system. Amounts of a quarter of an inch or so are forecast with higher amounts to the south.
