You can see what a tough fight it was today to get clouds out of the way. The satellite loop still shows the twisting weakening upper low right over Long Island and the cold front over the Great Lakes that is moving along behind it. We should finally start to see some meaningful changes but we still have some more clouds and a few shower to get through tonight and into Sunday morning. Through the first part of tonight there will also be some patchy light rain and drizzle to get around. Temperatures have been holding in the low to mid 50s all day and we will be in the upper 40s to low 50s overnight.
The Mother’s Day Long Island Forecast starts off with clouds and a few passing light showers in the morning. After about 9 or 10am we should start to see a gradual decrease in clouds and a gradual increase in sunshine during Sunday afternoon. Just have some sun out will take temperatures to the mid to upper 60s Sunday afternoon.

We should clear out Sunday night with lows in the 40s. Then Monday should be partly sunny and nice with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

The rest of the week looks like a battle with high pressure to the north and a weak frontal boundary that will form near by. There does not appear to be much to the next weather system coming east. Models forecast it to weaken some so while that may mean more clouds coming in Tuesday and beyond, there may not be much rain to deal with until Friday when a stronger cold front comes through.
A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY remains in effect for the Nassau County south shore into early Sunday morning but only minor coastal flooding is expected as tides begin to return back to near normal.
