It all worked out nicely today. Last night’s cold front as moved to the south. Dry air over Southeast Canada and New England has won and pushing the front far enough south so that we have a nice sunny afternoon. Temperatures are in the 60s. There is a nice light breeze from the northeast. This is one of those afternoons you will wish for come summer time after a stretch of heat and humidity. There are no weather issues for today and tonight. Clouds will start to return overnight as the onshore flow begins to strengthen and the cold cold front to the south becomes a warm front, readying to begin its journey back northward Thursday and Friday. Temperatures overnight will settle in the 45 to 50 degree range.

This warm front looks like the one from late last week where it didn’t have much to work with. Nonetheless Thursday will be cloudy and cool. We might see patchy drizzle developing later in the day or at night. The east to southeast wind keeps temperatures mostly in the low to mid 50s all day long and probably holding there or even inching a little higher at night as the warm front goes by.

Friday sees the warm front trying to push through and a cold front coming in from the west. I’m not very bullish on rain. The warm frontal rain is to the north and the showers with the front don’t look overly threatening. We may spend much of Friday in clouds and perhaps some brightening of skies or even a break or two of sun. Winds will go around to the south. Temperatures will head into the 60s. Friday night brings the next cold front through with a few showers or downpours but again it doesn’t look all that threatening. Once the front goes by dry air moves in and the weekend starts off with sunshine for Saturday with highs in the 60s to near 70.

We are still on course for deteriorating weather conditions on Sunday as a trough swings around the Great Lakes and a wave develops on Friday’s cold front that stalls out to our south. Timing and location will determine whether rain arrives Sunday afternoon or holds off until Sunday evening. It seems that rain will arrive Sunday afternoon from Southern New Jersey south while areas to the north and east will catch a break and rain holds off until evening. We will likely see on and off rain on Monday until this pulls out to the northeast. It might take until Wednesday before all this clears away to the northeast given the slow moving nature of the Great Lakes system moving east. It could cause another wave to develop to our south on Tuesday.
