Rain Moves In Tonight & Friday Coastal Flood Advisory
Minor To Locally Moderate Coastal Flooding
This is a rather complex scenario that has taken hold for today and Friday. The first of two storms is moving out to the northeast this morning well ahead of the upper air energy to the southwest. You can see a few things beginning to happen in response to this strong upper air storm nearing the coast. Radar echos are beginning to appear out in the ocean. Those rain echos eventually will start moving their way to the northwest and should start sweeping inland over Long Island tonight. The timing is a little difficult but it should be late evening or before midnight or so when rain moves in..perhaps a little sooner over eastern areas as the rain should come inland there first. In the meantime for the rest of today it looks like it will just be cloudy and raw with some spotty light rain or drizzle. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 50s.
By Friday morning the low is off the Delaware coast. You can see how the Nam model arcs the heaviest rain to the west and south of Long Island but we are in it.
The tough part is figuring out how much rain because the ocean events can surprise like we saw yesterday. Right now the thinking is maybe another half to three quarters of an inch of rain is a good bet.

Rain should continue into Friday evening with highs again in the 50s. Now for the weekend weather conditions will slowly begin to improve on Saturday though I still think there will be clouds and showers around. Highs will make it back into the 60s. Sunday after some morning showers it should turn partly sunny with highs in the 60s. Monday looks like the day when we have sun all day and highs into the 70s.
