Rainy Long Island Weekend 1-2 Inches Possible
The weekend is shaping up to be a wet one with 1.50 to 2 inches of rain forecast. First things first however is the cold air that remains today into tonight and an upper air disturbance that is moving through. Temperatures are in the low to mid 30s and will hold there for the rest of today and tonight. There have been a few snow showers showing up on the radar. This is from a system that left over a foot of snow in and around parts of the Lower Great Lakes but that system has weakened considerably as it moved east and there really isn’t much left to it. Most of the snow showers will be done by evening.

Overnight look for lots of clouds. Then on Saturday we will warm up with cloudy skies. Rain will arrive during the mid and late afternoon and continue on and off into at least Sunday afternoon. Rain will be heavy at times.
GFS RAINFALL FORECAST
Weather models have been fairly consistent with rainfall amounts and laying the heaviest rains right over Long Island. One last round of rain will move through Sunday night into early Monday morning before weather conditions improve with some sunshine later Monday. Temperatures over the weekend will rise into the upper 40s and lower 50s and then cool down some later Monday into Tuesday though the cold air behind this system is nothing to write home about.
