Record High Islip 89 Sea Breeze Moving Northward
Islip tied a record high at 89 this afternoon and as we head into the evening rush hour home it is hot especially from the Long Island Expressway northward where temperatures at the moment are still in the lower 90s however the south wind is beginning to kick in and the sea breeze will slowly move its way inland over the next few hours much like it did last night. By 7pm I would expect all but the immediate north shore to cool off into the 70s and south of Sunrise Highway we will probably drop into the 60s.
The satellite loop shows a few patchy clouds to the west and the radar is showing a couple of pop up thunderstorms but they will not be an issue here. It will be another warm night with lows in the mid to upper 60s.
Friday will be very warm but we will be lower than today with highs in the low to mid 80s. A cold front brings the chance for a thunderstorm in the afternoon and then cooler dry weather comes in for the weekend. We should see some sunshine both Saturday and Sunday with highs both days mostly in the 60s. Monday brings a stronger front with some showers and thunderstorms likely.
