Warmer Next 2 Days Another Cold Front Showers Thunder Thursday Night

Colder Into Weekend

The weather pattern remains progressive which means one air mass moves in for a few days and then moves out followed by a warm up and a cold front. This current chilly air mass is making an exit tonight which leaves us with one more relatively cold night under mainly clear skies. With light winds there will be radiational cooling in the pine barren areas in Suffolk County with lows down in the 20s. Low to mid 30s will be the bottom elsewhere and of course another round of frost is likely. The satellite picture doesn’t show much in the way of clouds and the radars are nice and quiet.

Wednesday should be no worse than partly sunny and with a nice southwest breeze developing, temperatures during the afternoon should reach the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. Some patchy clouds could roll in from time to time but that should be the only minor issue.

Thursday we see the next cold front that will approach from a low going across the Northern Great Lakes and into Southeastern Canada. Most of the day should be fine with sunshine and it will warm up nicely ahead of the front. Highs will reach 65 to 70 in most places.

Late in the day some clouds roll in and after sunset we will see a round of showers and perhaps even a rumble or two of thunder during the overnight. The front will be moving offshore by daybreak so the showers will be done. Then another cold air mass arrives for Friday on gusty winds and some sunshine. Highs will just be in the mid to upper 40s.

The weekend starts off with a cold but sunny Saturday with highs just in the middle 40s. Sunday will be dry during the day with sunshine giving way to late day clouds. Highs will be back into the 50s. A stronger front arrives Sunday night into Monday with showers and some heavy downpours. Behind it we will start off Thanksgiving week with the coldest air of the Autumn season so far moving into the Northeast leaving us windy and cold Monday into Tuesday with temperatures only moderating slightly Wednesday and Thursday Thanksgiving day. The Monday front should leave us dry for Tuesday through Thursday.
