Some Sun Each Day Risk of Late Showers
No Serious Issues
Two things that are evident on the satellite loop this morning. One is that there is a strong outbreak of thunderstorms across the Southern Plains and we can see disturbed weather east northeast of the Bahamas getting better organized and will likely become a tropical depression or a tropical storm at some point over the next 3 days. We are right in between the two with an upper high in control and that pretty much should be the case right through the weekend. The air mass we are in has become moist enough to produce the odd passing shower or two this morning well north and west of Long Island and this should be the case for much of today. Late this afternoon and evening a few downpours are possible however much of the day will be no worse than partly sunny with temperatures in the 80s.

The south wind kicks in again this afternoon and brings temperatures down a bit. It also will bring in a cooler marine layer which is likely to kill off any thunderstorms that develop to the west. Bottom line is that anything that forms is likely to weaken or fall apart once it crosses the Queens/Nassau line.
No other big changes through Sunday with sun and clouds both Saturday and Sunday with highs in the mid 70s east to lower 80s west and the risk for a late shower or thunderstorm. Monday we may see a stronger cold front move through during the day with a better chance for showers and thunderstorms at some point during the day.

Back to the tropical system, it seems destined for the southeast coast of the United States however I don’t see a mechanism to bring it up here. Even the moisture from this is likely to get trapped south of us. For now no concerns. An Air Force plane will be investigating the area this afternoon.
