This beautiful air mass that has moved in has provided Long Island with a nice break from the summer heat and humidity. Temperatures in the late afternoon were in the upper 70s to around 80 with dewpoints in the low 50s. Humidity levels are in the 30 to 40 percent range. It doesn’t get much better than this during this time in August.

TUESDAY MORNING FORECAST LOWS
There isn’t much cloud cover on the satellite to speak of except for what is left of Tropical Storm Fiona in the southeastern corner of the satellite loop. Thunderstorms have flared up again this afternoon around it. It was downgraded to a depression earlier today but the circulation seems to be holding together.

Radars are likely to remain quiet for most of this week. The next weather front is not due until later Thursday night and it appears that there won’t be much with that front. It is quite possible that we could be dry here through next weekend. The humidity may come up a bit on Thursday but it should only be for the one day. Some dry air returns Friday but the next dry air mass doesn’t appear to be as strong as this one. Still the weather should remain relatively nice. Highs Tuesday will be in the 70s. Wednesday we should be back into the 80s and Thursday should be in the 80s as well.
We should pay some attention to the tropics as there may be 2 or possibly 3 tropical systems running around by the end of the week. Here is the latest weather video and weather model analysis of the tropics.
