Long Island No Tropical Threats
Severe Drought Continues No Rain In Sight
Long Island weather is beautiful today as we have lots of sunshine and reasonably dry air. Temperatures are nearing the 80 degree mark and dew points are in the upper 50s and lower 60s. It should be fine for the rest of the day and reasonably comfortable.

LONG ISLAND WEATHER SATELLITE & RADAR LOOPS
Satellite and radar loops are in good shape. Tonight should be nice and clear with lows in the 60s to near 70. Thursday looks good with sunshine most of the day though it will be a bit more humid. Highs will reach the 80s. There will be a bit of an ocean wind which will take temperatures down a bit. There is only a slight threat for a shower Thursday night.
Friday with a west or northwest wind we could see temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 with some sunshine. Then for the weekend we will see a developing onshore flow which means cooler temperatures especially by Sunday. But we should also see a fair amount of sunshine and no rain is in the forecast through Sunday.
Two things I want to address. First off is that the moderate to severe drought conditions continue despite the rains of last Saturday and Sunday. They have done very little to alleviate the dry conditions over Long Island. Second is the possibility of a tropical storm developing this weekend off the Florida coast.
