We have a new moon on Friday September 30th It is called a “black moon” because it will be the second new moon in a calendar month. The strong northeast flow over Long Island will continue into the weekend and the gradient will tighten up a bit so the result is a Coastal Flood Advisory for Nassau County.

We are seeing rain moving northward up the coast overnight but unfortuantely much of that first shot of rain will pass to our west. We will be in low clouds and drizzle or light rain through Thursday. However a steadier round of rain should move move later Thursday night into Friday. The upper low to the west is a bit too far west to put us the heart of the rainfall over the next few days but we should still be able to get into some of this over the next 3 days.
No improvement in the weather is forecast until later Sunday when the onshore flow is forecast to break down somewhat. However another big high building down from Eastern Canada will put us back in the onshore flow early next week.
