COASTAL STORM LONG ISLAND SUSTAINED WIND GUSTS FORECAST MONDAY PM
For Long Island tidal surge and wind are going to be the two big issues regarding the coastal storm heading our way for Monday. This noreaster has the potential to produce wind gusts to 60 mph or more during Monday into Monday evening. Also there will be coastal flooding at high tide. The Monday evening high tide cycle appears to be the one that will produce the greatest coastal flooding.
TIDAL SURGE MONDAY EVENING HIGH TIDE FROM COASTAL STORM 7PM
The tidal surge for Long Island Sound could reach 3 to 4 feet 3 hours later around 10pm. Now with respect to the winds they will be every bit of 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph or more possible especially along the immediate coast. The NAM model was particularly aggressive with the wind suggesting gusts to hurricane force.

With regards to today and Sunday the issue will be lots of clouds. Yes the sun could try and poke through but it will be quite the struggle today. Temperatures could approach or break 50 for the highs. Notice on the satellite loop clouds bursting across the Gulf states. This is the beginnings of our coastal storm. Look for some lead rain to possibly sneak in here on Sunday but the main rain comes in during Sunday night after midnight and continues into Monday evening.
Local radars at the moment are nice and quiet and should remain so into Sunday morning though some rain tonight could pass to our south and east.
Weather conditions will being to deteriorate Sunday night and Monday into Monday night will be the worst of this.
