Chance For Pop Up Showers Through Wednesday
We begin this morning with lots of sunshine across Long Island with temperatures already in the lower 70s. Out to the west on the satellite we can see a line of clouds. Some showers or a thunderstorm could pop up with this line as it moves to the east but for Long Island they should be widely scattered in nature. That line marks the leading edge cool dry air for the middle of the week.

Temperatures today should reach the 80s before we cool off this evening and tonight. We should at least partially clear out tonight. Lows should bottom in the upper 50s.
Wednesday we will be under the influence of a very cold air mass aloft and much cooler air at the surface. Most highs will be in the 60s to near 70. That cold unstable air will produce some showers and thunderstorms and some of those storms could actually produce some hail due to the cold air aloft. Then once the upper air disturbance causing this swings through, the rest of the week looks good with sunshine Thursday and Friday and highs both days in the 70s.
