Eastern Long Island Weather Miserable Raw Friday Evening
Considering that temperatures on Eastern Long Island yesterday reached the upper 80s to lower 90s, it is hard to believe that we are sitting here today with temperatures and weather conditions you normally see in May or early June. For Eastern Long Island weather in mid July this is truly miserable.
Late this afternoon the weather map above shows temperatures which are sitting in the mid 60s and are actually colder than the ocean temperatures which are now close to 70! On top of that we are seeing light and drizzle and patchy fog as well. It is just not a nice day. The satellite loop shows lots of clouds going back through Pennsylvania and the radars are busy though severe weather tonight is well south of Long Island and we should not see any thunderstorms with this marine layer.
The good news is that weather conditions should improve over the weekend. Clouds may be a bit stubborn Saturday through midday but we should see some sunshine break through the clouds in the afternoon. Temperatures will at least make the mid 70s to near 80. Sunday looks very good with mostly sunny skies and highs reaching into the lower 80s with moderate levels of humidity. Once any rain is done tonight we should be rain free through at least the daytime on Monday.
Looking ahead to next week we see Eastern Long Island weather more typical for mid July. We don’t see another return to a marine flow which means days like today are not in the forecast. Much of next week will feature sunshine and clouds with the risk for a late day or evening isolated thunderstorm. No widespread rain is forecast through next Friday.
