Every summer there are usual just a handful of days where the weather on Long Island gets rather hot and oppressive. We are at that point now where the ocean no longer has that instant air conditioner effect that it has in the spring. A Heat Advisory is in effect for Nassau and the Western half of Suffolk County but not for the Twin Forks out to Montauk & Greenport. Even there temperatures will reach the upper 80s to near 90 but everywhere else it looks like a 90 to 95 kind of day.

It also appears that Friday could be that kind of day as well with another day of sunshine and temperatures reaching the 90s.

The question of thunderstorms is there for this evening and tonight and the Storm Prediction Center has Long Island at a marginal risk of severe weather. The satellite loop shows the next in a series of fronts approaching from the Great Lakes with some showers and thunderstorms ahead of it. They will probably arrive sometime this evening.
Friday we look for clouds early before it becomes partly to mostly sunny. While it will be hot, look for the humidity to slowly ease later in the day. That should take us to Saturday which looks mostly sunny and very warm but it will be somewhat more comfortable with the dewpoints down closer to 60 than 70. Sunday brings back humidity and the risk for thunderstorms as the next warm front/cold front approaches. Saturday will definitely be the better of the two weekend days.
