Heavy Downpours Evening Commute & Overnight
Satellite and radar shows that the cold front has crawled a little further east and we are now seeing rain on the radar coming up from the south. It looks like the evening commute will be a wet one with heavy downpours. The rain in the ocean seems to be expanding a bit and it should also continue on and off through the overnight. The weather front will be very slow to move with the main upper air circulation back in the Great Lakes. There isn’t much of an eastward push at the moment to get the front to completely clear the coastline.
With the front so close to us over the next 36 hours it makes the forecast for Long Island a tough one. Once the energy from the Great Lakes swings eastward another wave will develop on the front later Wednesday and Wednesday night so the threat for rain remains into early Thursday. It won’t be continuous however.

For sure weather conditions will improve for Friday and Saturday but more rain is possible Sunday as another cold front approaches and some tropical moisture gets involved from the south.
