LONG ISLAND 2 TO 3 INCHES OVERNIGHT MORE RAIN SUNDAY
Based on the doppler radar estimates Long Island did very well with the thunderstorms and heavy downpours last night along with the interesting lightning displays. 2 to 3 inches fell across Nassau & Western Suffolk with an inch or two over the Eastern part of the Island.

Weather conditions will be slow to improve today as the weather front lingers offshore so look for lots of clouds though there could be occasional brightening as well as the chance for a passing shower especiall to the east. Most highs will reach the middle 60s.

You can see the clouds just off the coast with the cold front moving south southwest to north northeast. Until the upper trough to the west lifts out the front will be slow to make eastward progress but it will do so later tonight and on Thursday so weather conditions should improve.
Thursdy looks better with a mix of sun and clouds and the risk for a passing shower with the upper trough swinging through. Highs will be just into the 60s. Then Friday and Saturday look good with sunshine though clouds will arrive later in the day Saturday as the next storm system sets up for Sunday.
Sunday we have a front and low pressure coming up the coast. That low actually starts out in the Northwest Caribbean so it will have a lot of tropical moisture. If the front is slow enough there should be another shot of ample rain here Sunday and Sunday night along with gusty southeast winds. We will have more on this later today. For now look for rain to develop Sunday and last into Sunday night or early Monday morning before the system moves away and colder air moves early next week.
