Long Island Cooler Weather Rain Friday Showers Weekend
We are seeing cooler air continuing to bleed into Long Island today. Temperatures this afternoon reached the middle 60s which was 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. Tonight looks cool dry and clear with lows island wide in the middle 40s. The winds are still a bit gusty this evening but they should drop off overnight as high pressure continues to build in. Clouds on the satellite loop are swinging out to the east this evening and once they are out, we should be clear all night and sunshine will start Thursday. Notice on the satellite loop that we have lots of moisture and clouds gathering across the Gulf States as the next storm comes out of the Southern Plains. This brings rain for Friday.
Rainfall Friday will be substantial This weather system will be another 1 to 2 inch rain producer. Rain will arrive before daybreak Friday and it should be done sometime later Friday evening.

As far as the weekend is concerned, there will be some improvement however with the strong blocking pattern developing in the atmosphere, cool unstable air will mean the chance for showers both Saturday and Sunday. It won’t rain all the time and there will be dry periods. However doing things outdoors at times could be a bit problematic.
