Long Island Fog Showers Dry Wednesday
After a solid 1.5 to 2 inches of rain fell this morning over Long Island we are sitting in a marine layer at the moment with visibility coming down across Suffolk County and into Western Nassau County this afternoon. Temperatures are also reflecting the wind off the ocean as they hold in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees. I don’t expect much warming to occur this afternoon and weather conditions won’t improve until the cold front passes through later this evening. Some showers are possible when the front goes by but the marine layer will probably keep thunderstorms from developing. Thos should stay to the west and south.
Overnight weather conditions will improve over Long Island as skies clear out with lows in the 40s. Wednesday looks good with sunshine and highs reaching into the 60s.
The next storm system arrives on Thursday with another 1 to 2 inch rain fall which would be the 3rd system in the last 7 days. This will be accompanied by gusty southeast winds off the ocean as strong low pressure heads to our west into Pennsylvania. There may be some higher than normal high tides on Thursday but the moon phase is not supportive for a serious coastal flooding event.
