WESTERN AREAS COULD BRIGHTEN UP THIS AFTERNOON
There is still some more rain to get through for Long Island today. There is rain that is developing along and off the New Jersey shore that is moving north northeastward. If that area holds together it will move over Long Island later this morning and early afternoon especially over Suffolk County. The Hamptons today does not look to be a pretty day with the East End in line for most of the showers to south. Also we have patchy dense fog especially along the coast and that should last until this weather front clears the coast.
We can still see some heavier downpours in the mix. Most of Long Island received anywhere from a quarter to three quarters of an inch of rain overnight and the second area coming up might double that up in some areas. The western enge of the rain is making some eastward progress which might mean for drier conditions in Nassau County for awhile. We will just watch and wait. The HRRR model brings rains back late today along with the threat for thunderstorms.

Also there is the risk for showers or a thunderstorm later this afternoon and into the first part of tonight. Weather conditions will improve later tonight and for Tuesday with sunshine coming back Tuesday. Temperatures today will be in the 60s to lower 70s..Tuesday’s highs will reach the lower 80s.
