Long Island Snow Forecast Saturday Morning Early Call 12162016
Since we are now inside 72 hours it is time for the Snow Forecast Early Call For Saturday Morning 12162016. Weather models so far tonight are fairly close. The Canadian model snow map to me was followed closely in terms of amounts at this point.

CANADIAN MODEL SNOW FORECAST
The GFS model is very aggressive again for the 4th run in a row. I do not agree with the Canadian models idea that it is still all snow at 1pm Saturday. It snows for an extra 6 hours on the Canadian and the amounts were lower which sort of doesn’t make sense to me but the numbers it came up with seem more reasonable at this point. A super charged warm front would make the GFS model more accurate. For now I went conservative.
For Long Island I went for a coating to an inch for Eastern Long Island mainly from just west of Riverhead Eastward as I think they will be the first to change over. 1 to 2 inches over the rest of Suffolk County except the northwest corner. 2 to 3 inches there and for Nassau County before a change to rain takes place Saturday morning. It will all be washed away as temperatures rise into the 40s and perhaps reach 50 by Sunday morning. Then a cold front comes through and we get more rain Sunday afternoon. This will also be a solid producer from the standpoint of the drought. 1 1/2 to 2 inches of rain is likely by the time it ends Sunday night, perhaps as some sleet or wet snow as colder air returns.
