We continue to experience some gusty winds over Long Island this evening but those winds are dropping off slowly but surely. Gusts are still in the 30-35 mph range but sustained winds for the most part have dropped under 20 mph. Winds will continue to drop overnight. The satellite loop shows mainly clear skies as a storm in New Brunswick Canada moves off to the northeast.
The satellite loop also shows the next weather system in the Midwest. This system is relatively weak and will likely weaken further as it moves eastward. There are no issue for us through the first half of Wednesday night. Skies will be sunny on Wednesday with clouds moving in Wednesday evening. If you are travelling off the island you should have no issues getting to wherever you are going by car and in most cases by plane as there are no major storms going on around the country.
Long Island Thanksgiving weather outlook looks unsettled with lots of clouds. Early Thanksgiving morning there could be some light precipitation and it could be cold enough for a little mix during the early morning hours. Later in the day there could be a few showers. In between it will be overcast with temperatures in the upper 40s to near 50 by days end. Clouds will continue on Friday and then another round of rain is likely Friday night into Saturday morning. Weather conditions should improve Saturday afternoon. Sunday looks questionable as colder air and low pressure to the east will put us in clouds. There is now the chance of some showers with temperatures just in the 40s.
