Long Island Weather Thanksgiving
The satellite loop shows clouds increasing from the west over Long Island tonight. Temperatures however are cold with a light north wind and temperatures in the 30s with 20s as of 9pm over the colder spots in Suffolk County.
The satellite shows clouds advancing quickly from the west and we are beginning to see precipitation coming in on the radar. Much of the precipitation is light and not reaching the ground at the moment. However keep and eye on temperatures overnight as if the precipitation does reach the ground where it is cold enough, there could be a light mix or some freezing drizzle for a brief time.
During Thanksgiving day I don’t think the rain will get in anyone’s way too much. Any rain that is around in the morning will be spotty but there will be more numerous showers in the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the 40s. Friday we will get a break with cloudy skies and some breaks of sun as highs approach 50 or so. Then low pressure develops to our south and we should see some showers Friday night into Saturday morning before weather conditions improve.
Cold air will be coming down from Canada and Sunday will be chilly again with sunshine and clouds but highs will only be in the low to mid 40s.
It looks like the next weather front will be a little slower in getting here and rain will probably hold off until Tuesday night.
