Long Island Weather Showers Overnight
We are seeing low pressure developing just offshore and moving away to the northeast. The system is weak and there are some showers developing on the radar. The system is weak and most models have some showers into the early morning hours on Long Island before it pulls away to the east. We think showers could linger a little longer than modeled here on the HRRR model but they should be gone by daybreak except perhaps on the Twin Forks.
Weather conditions should improve during the day on Saturday from west to east with no worse than partly sunny skies developing and temperatures in the upper 40s to lower 50s. You can see on the satellite loop below that clouds are beginning to thin out to the wet and north which gives us some hope for Saturday. We should clear out everywhere by late afternoon and skies will be clear Saturday night with temperatures falling to the lower 30s by Sunday morning.
Sunday looks good with lots of sunshine but it will be chilly with highs in the middle 40s. Monday looks dry as well with sunshine giving way to some afternoon arriving clouds with highs in the upper 40s.
Tuesday and Wednesday we have the chance for a solid shot of rain on the order of a couple of inches as 2 weather systems head our way. We will have more on this as we move through the weekend but it could put a dent in the drought.
