Standout features on the satellite loop are the ocean storm offshore and the clouds gathering across the Great Lakes. In between we sit in dry weather and mainly clear skies though some clouds will be coming into the mix overnight. No issues overnight other than whatever is left of the south winds off the ocean as temperatures settle into the 40s in some areas tonight but most lows should finish near 50 or so. Radar remains quiet and is a non issue here until Tuesday. However you will be noticing a pick up in activity to the north on Monday as warm air from the south collides with colder air to the north.
Monday is a bit of a tricky day temperature wise. Time of year and my gut tells me that highs will be higher than indicated on the forecast map below. However much of that will be wind dependent. The southerly component of the wind will be key. My guess is we should reach into the 70s and then eventually settle back during the afternoon and evening in the 60s.

Temperatures west of Long Island will make the 70s on Monday. Tuesday however is another issue as that frontal boundary to the north drops southward and passes through here Tuesday afternoon. Ahead of it depending on how much sun we get and how long the rain holds off, temperatures could reach the 70s briefly. Then as winds turn northeast very chilly air will be moving through and by days end we will be in the 40s again and down to the low 40s here by Wednesday morning

Just how cold is this cold air? Well for this time of year it is pretty cold. Take a look at the GFS temperature forecast for Tuesday evening and you can see how sharp the temperature gradient is from north to south.

By Tuesday evening the front would be somewhere in Central New Jersey and long by Long Island. Look at the temperatures in upstate New York and Northern New England. There are in the 20s! Thanks to the blocking pattern in the atmosphere, cold air masses will pile on into Southeastern Canada and that cold air will be bleeding southward from time to time. Tuesday will be one of those times.
As for rainfall on Tuesday it looks like a solid half inch of rain seems likely but a lot will depend on whether there are any thunderstorms in the mix. We will have a better feel for that perhaps later on Monday. With regards to the long term pattern check my latest JOESTRADAMUS post.
