It is getting better today across Long Island as we chew through the last of some leftover clouds this morning. Some showers to the north look to pass to the north and east of the coast so it should be a good day as partly sunny skies gradually develop. The wind off the ocean is gone and it has turned to the northwest. Temperatures should make it into the lower 80s.

Once the showers on the radar move to the east, radars will go silent for a few days as far as we are concerned.

Looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday we see plenty of sun. Highs will be in the lower 80s Monday and in the middle 80s on Tuesday. Wednesday it turns warmer and more humid with highs in the 80s to near 90. The next chance of thunderstorms will be late this week as a cold front approaches late on Thursday.
As far as the long range goes we see more of the same weather pattern that we have been in. The tropics however look to be setting up for an active August and September.
