The radar is pretty quiet over Long Island this evening however we are seeing rain and thunderstorms firing up to the southwest in Virginia. It looks like there will be nothing much around this evening other than some spotty light rain or drizzle. Then around 11pm or so an area of rain with some heavier downpours will be moving through. There is the chance for a thunderstorm as well overnight.
The latest HRRR radar forecast for 3am shows Long Island in a solid area of rain with a few heavier downpours.

By 6am the HRRR is forecasting the back edge of the rain at about the Nassau County line so it should be moving out during the morning commute. Models through 6am show about a half inch to an inch of liquid and there is still another hour or two of rain during the morning rush to add to the totals.
