We are beginning the transition to a warmer more humid air mass for Saturday. The next cold front is approaching from the west and you can see clouds on the Satellite loop already raciing into Western New York while thunderstorms are showing up on the western edges of the radar loops tonight. No issues tonight. Nothing more than some clouds tonight and temperatures for the first time in several nights will have a tough time breaking below 70.

Saturday’s temperatures will be a bit tricky to figure because they will depend on clouds, how much sun, and the timing of thunderstorms. Weather models are all over the place ranging from storms arriving early in the afternoon to some models not bringing any thunderstorms through until late evening. My suspicion is that it will be mid to late afternoon. Thunderstorm activity should only last for about an hour or so before weather conditions improve. Highs should reach the mid to upper 80s in Northern Nassau and Northwest Suffolk to near 80 along the shore. Either way no matter when the thunderstorms happen, skies will clear out Saturday night and Sunday looks great with sunshine and highs in the low to mid 80s with lower humidity.

The Storm Prediction Center does have Long Island at a marginal risk for severe weather. We know how thunderstorms on Long Island find a way to not happen especially in Suffolk County. The threat is there so we will see how they play. If you are beach bound, keep an eye to the sky for any threatening weather.

Monday and Tuesday we will see a continuation of sunshine, low humidity and highs in the low to mid 80s.
