Lots of Clouds Long Island Will See Warm More Humid Weekend But No Rain
Yesterday was one of those odd days where it rained over most of Long Island for most of the day while from western Nassau to NYC west and north it was cloudy all day but no rain. Temperatures didn’t get out of the 60s yesterday but today Long Island catches a bit of a break as the rain will be to the west. That rain area will also weaken as it moves eastward so that it should mostly fall apart before it gets here. We have been dealing with this north south stalled warm front which will become mobile today. On the satellite there is a swirl of clouds offshore as low pressure develops. Once that moves far enough northeast, that should take that north south boundary and move it away to the northeast. As for temperatures today they will be kept in check with a wind off the ocean and highs will top out mostly in the 70s. Sky conditions should be no worse than cloudy to partly sunny. There actually will be more sun as you go east today.

As we clean house atmospherically we will see higher pressures build in for Friday and over the weekend. Tonight we will see some clouds around that will linger into Friday morning. Lows will be in the low to mid 60s. Friday looks like Long Island starts with some clouds but we should go partly sunny. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
As for the weekend we don’t see any major issues. Saturday and Sunday we will see sunshine both days. Humidity levels will still be on the reasonable side Saturday but it will be going up for Sunday. High pressure surface and aloft keeps us in a stable atmosphere so we don’t see any rain. Highs both days will be in the low to middle 80s with temperatures a little cooler at the shore. The next chance for showers and thunderstorms will come later Monday as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Enjoy the day and the weekend.
