Nice Saturday Rain Sunday Long Island Weather
Dry air in upstate New York and Northern New England is dropping southward this morning so we should go to a mix of sun and clouds before too long. The wind will still be off the ocean and that means it stays cool all day with temperatures in the 50s to near 60. At least 1/2 the weekend looks good because Sunday does not look good. The satellite loop shows clouds and moisture building to the west and south and those clouds will begin to return late today and thicken up tonight. Rain will arrive in western Long Island by 5 or 6am and it should be raining island wide by 8am.
Between the rain and the ocean wind, temperatures on Sunday will be raw and barely out of the 40s and into the low 50s at best. Rain could start to taper off some very late Sunday afternoon or evening but another surge of rain is probably Sunday night into Monday morning. We should see some genuine improvement Monday afternoon.

Beyond Monday we could catch a dry day on Tuesday for a little while but weather models are pointing to more rain later Tuesday night and Wednesday. We will have more on that later today.
