Rain Gales Brief Noreaster Conditions Late Saturday Into Sunday
Everything regarding the weekend storm system remains pretty much on course. We are going to see some heavy rains here on Long Island late Saturday and Saturday night on the order of 1 to possibly 3 inches in some spots.
Weather models remain somewhat consistent though they have eased away (for now) from extreme amounts. We will also see gale force winds along the immediate coast Saturday night as low pressure passes close to our shoreline Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Meanwhile this afternoon the blocking pattern continues to produce clouds though we have seen some breaks of sun. A stronger upper air disturbance with some rain and showers is passing by just to our south with rain as close as Southern New Jersey. That rain however is not headed here as it is moving southeast.
We will continue with more of the same weather conditions we have seen for the last several days. Clouds will be around into this evening and tonight with another cool night ahead in the 40s. Friday we will again be battling clouds with some breaks of sun and cool conditions thanks to an ocean wind. Most highs on Friday will not get out of the 50s. Rain develops Saturday probably around midday in Western Long Island and during the afternoon over the East End. The heaviest rain will be late Saturday right into Sunday morning. At this point for Mother’s day the rain should end from west to east during the morning but there will be leftover clouds and a few passing showers in the afternoon. Saturday’s temperatures will be raw and chilly with most highs just into the low 50s. Sunday we should make it back into the lower 60s.
Warmer dry weather starts the new week as temperatures head higher next week. The pattern is changing again and JOESTRADAMUS has more on this in his latest long range forecast.
