Rain Moving Into Long Island
We are watching rain to the west that is progressing right along to the coast. That rain should arrive on Long Island shortly (around lunch time or so) and continue through the afternoon and into the evening commute. Everything seems to be moving right along with no complications. Temperatures are all above freezing so ice is not an issue.
LONG ISLAND RAINFALL FORECAST
Rainfall looks to be on the order of a half an inch or so but we have outperforming models lately so I think some areas could push this to three quarters of an inch. We have at least keeping pace with rainfall as we are close to average on Long Island since December 1st 2016 and some areas are actually above average. At the very least the drought is not getting any worse.
Radars show the rain moving east. It is not a solid area of coverage so it is probable we will see the rain come through in waves with some breaks in between.
Temperatures are already into the 40s in most places and we will hover in the lower 40s for the most part today and tonight. Wednesday looks to be cloudy for the most part with some leftover light rain or drizzle and highs in the 40s. Thursday might be the one day this week where we have some sunshine.
