Rain Takes A Break Onshore Flow Returns

Weather conditions on Long Island improved somewhat this afternoon as the satellite & radar trends show dry air pushing the rain southward. There isn’t enough dry air to completely clear skies out but at least the rain has stopped for now and it should be dry overnight into at least part of Friday.

What is obvious on the satellite and on the radars however is that there is still a ton of moisture still around with a tropical connection that extends all the way south into the Caribbean. That flow of moisture continues into the weekend and will bring another round of rain here later Friday night and Saturday.,

Friday will be cloudy with an onshore wind and temperatures will not be out of the 50s. Then here comes the rain for later Friday night and Saturday and it could be on the order of an inch to an inch and a half. Weather conditions should improve for Sunday with clouds and some sun and a slight chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm with highs reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Next week the tropical connection looks to get cut off for at least few days so cold fronts from the west will start moving along. This will probably lead to some showers Monday night and the chance for showers and thunderstorms late Tuesday & Tuesday night.
