Rain Wind Saturday Gales Offshore
Everything still seems on track for wind and rain for Long Island for later Friday night and Saturday. Right now weather models remain all over the place in terms of amounts on both ends of the spectrum. Most put Long Island in line for 1 to 2 inches of rain which will be manageable and not problematic other than it comes on a Saturday.

As far as the wind is concerned, it will be breezy but not a big problem except offshore where gusts to gale force are likely right into Saturday evening.

Other than a few passing showers this evening, there are no rain issues for Long Island through Friday evening. The main rain will be overnight Friday into Saturday morning and it should wind down Saturday afternoon. Friday we will see some sun early with arriving clouds with highs reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Radar tonight shows most of the scattered showers are done except for a stray one here and there. As far as Sunday is concerned a lot will depend on the upper air storm to the south and strong the onshore flow is with regard to clouds. I’m leaving the forecast for Sunday as Cloudy with a few stray showers possible though it could wind up being a rather uneventful day rain wise. Temperatures however will still be stuck in the 70s. I don’t expect coastal flooding to be a big deal other than minor coastal flooding. We are past the high tides from the new moon earlier this week so at least from that standpoint we should be okay.
